Championing Fairness: Taylor Darling on Justice and Consumer Protection

Updated: Feb 27

Taylor Darling has seen firsthand how the legal and financial burdens of injury and litigation can upend lives. After a serious accident left her struggling with mounting medical bills, she experienced the obstacles everyday New Yorkers face when seeking justice without deep pockets.

That experience shaped her advocacy for the Consumer Litigation Funding Act — legislation designed to regulate the industry that provides legal funding to individuals pursuing justice. Taylor argues that without regulation, insurance companies and corporations benefit from prolonging litigation while victims struggle to afford the costs of legal representation.

In her view, proper oversight ensures access to justice and protects vulnerable individuals from being priced out of the very system meant to defend their rights. Taylor calls for lawmakers to stand with everyday New Yorkers, not powerful interests.

This commitment to fairness and equity carries across her policy work — whether in civil justice, healthcare access, or economic opportunity — and remains central to her campaign mission.
